Holy Employment

Hi Peeps,

Today’s Quote

“I was 26 when God first revealed Himself to me, to which I promptly called my Earthly father to inform him that I had lost my mind! To my surprise, he confirmed that I wasn’t crazy, but that God had removed the scales from my eyes and gave me a job!”~TB

Holy Unemployment

When we first receive salvation, essentially we are in God’s unemployment line, receiving manna and grace to help us get on our Christian feet. He pours down His love and sets us aside, giving us a glimpse of the truth; the world is fallen and we are insufficient without Him. As babes in Christ, our walk begins with salvation, it does not end there. Friends, we are not meant to stay here. Make no mistake, there is a battlefield and we each have a specific Biblical role that leads us to victory.

Apply to the Holy Job Fair

God creates every single one of us for a specific job. We are intrinsically designed to get out of the holy unemployment line, making space for new believers, so that we can go out and spread the good news! Unfortunately, many of us refuse to answer the call, instead, opting to remain in the wilderness instead of moving towards the promise land. Don’t get me wrong, salvation is freely given. Victory, however, requires obedience and a bit of elbow grease. To apply for your Biblical position, all you have to do is call out to God and say “Here I am. Use me!” Don’t be surprised when He answers, because he will!

On the Job Training

Just like our occupations in the natural world, we all start out as entry-level workers. It’s ok to feel out of depth or unqualified because technically, we are! Fortunately, God gives us the Bible, or as I like to call it, the “holy employee handbook” in which we can study and learn from the people who held the job before us. There are literal examples within the Bible that speak to every Holy Occupation, you just have to read the ‘manual’! I’ll give you an example. My first assignment looked incredibly similar to Samuel speaking to Eli, though it didn’t go nearly as well (or so I thought)! I thank God for the Bible because had I not known, I would have easily lost heart. Take time to read your Holy Job description because your success depends on it!

Lifetime Appointment

Friends, God gives us the job that we were specifically created for.  Some of us are in the trenches, some of us are in the public eye, and some of us are tucked away receiving messages to share. Every job is different, yet necessary to fulfill God’s purpose. These assignments are not by accident! Granted, it’s not uncommon to admire the work of others. Take care to not let envy become a foothold because evil is always on the prowl. When starting out, I foolishly wished I had the gift of mercy. Giving a tough message is often met with criticism and rejection. I thought, “how nice it must be to comfort the sick and broken”. Surely that’s a ‘better job’. However, after some time of trying to abandon my post for that ‘job,’ I realized that I was not cut out for it– what arrogance! Now, I obediently (even when I don’t want to) follow the orders that I receive, because I understand that my ways will never hold a candle to His.

Question of the Day

Do you want to stay in God’s unemployment line or will you respond to the Holy ‘Help Wanted’ sign that He has placed into your heart?

Psalm 63

1 O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water. 2 I have seen you in your sanctuary and gazed upon your power and glory. 3 Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you! 4 I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer. 5 You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise you with songs of joy. 6 I lie awake thinking of you, meditating on you through the night.
7 Because you are my helper, I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings. 8 I cling to you; your strong right hand holds me securely. 9But those plotting to destroy me will come to ruin. They will go down into the depths of the earth. 10 They will die by the sword and become the food of jackals.
11 But the king will rejoice in God. All who swear to tell the truth will praise him, while liars will be silenced.
