The Trouble of Double

Hi Peeps,

Today’s Quote

“Only the devil delights in a double-minded person.”

Back and Forth

When your mind is as a seesaw, you fail to be rooted in anything. One minute you have faith, but the next you’re full of doubt. If your faith disappears that quickly, then surely you have none at all. One can not truly know Christ if their mind can be dissuaded every which other way. Of course, this is exactly why the opposition plots to keep you so.

Straight Ahead

Friends, if you aspire to give your life to Christ, start by putting one foot in front of the other. Faith requires action which means to turn from the ways that keep you away from our Father in Heaven. It also means to learn the Word to remain rooted in your path. If peace in the Truth is what you seek, then set your mind on Him and Him alone.

Today’s Question

Which path are you taking?

Hosea 11

1 “When Israel was a child, I loved him, and I called my son out of Egypt. 2 But the more I called to him, the farther he moved from me, offering sacrifices to the images of Baal and burning incense to idols. 3 I myself taught Israel how to walk, leading him along by the hand. But he doesn’t know or even care that it was I who took care of him. 4 I led Israel along with my ropes of kindness and love. I lifted the yoke from his neck, and I myself stooped to feed him. 5 “But since my people refuse to return to me, they will return to Egypt and will be forced to serve Assyria. 6 War will swirl through their cities; their enemies will crash through their gates. They will destroy them, trapping them in their own evil plans. 7 For my people are determined to desert me. They call me the Most High, but they don’t truly honor me. 8 “Oh, how can I give you up, Israel? How can I let you go? How can I destroy you like Admah or demolish you like Zeboiim? My heart is torn within me, and my compassion overflows. 9 No, I will not unleash my fierce anger. I will not completely destroy Israel, for I am God and not a mere mortal. I am the Holy One living among you, and I will not come to destroy. 10 For someday the people will follow me. I, the LORD, will roar like a lion. And when I roar, my people will return trembling from the west. 11 Like a flock of birds, they will come from Egypt. Trembling like doves, they will return from Assyria. And I will bring them home again,” says the LORD . 12 Israel surrounds me with lies and deceit, but Judah still obeys God and is faithful to the Holy One. Hosea 10Hosea 12  Parallel Compare

Hi Peeps,

Today’s Quote

“Your love is a legit reflection of your relationship with Christ.”

People

I’ll be the first person to tell how annoying people can be. We’re extremely flawed, hypocritical, and self-centered. Even still, God loves us all. What makes Christ’s love for us so beautiful is its everlasting nature that asks for nothing in return except acceptance.

Your Love

If your love is contingent upon people doing the right thing, then you have no love at all! Friends, we all fall short, and though our misdeeds may look different than that of our brothers, I tell you the truth, God judges us all the same. So if you desire to love legitimately, love as Christ loves you.

Today’s Question

Is your love legit or superficial?

Daniel 12

1 “At that time Michael, the archangel who stands guard over your nation, will arise. Then there will be a time of anguish greater than any since nations first came into existence. But at that time every one of your people whose name is written in the book will be rescued. 2 Many of those whose bodies lie dead and buried will rise up, some to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting disgrace. 3 Those who are wise will shine as bright as the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever. 4 But you, Daniel, keep this prophecy a secret; seal up the book until the time of the end, when many will rush here and there, and knowledge will increase.” 5 Then I, Daniel, looked and saw two others standing on opposite banks of the river. 6 One of them asked the man dressed in linen, who was now standing above the river, “How long will it be until these shocking events are over?” 7 The man dressed in linen, who was standing above the river, raised both his hands toward heaven and took a solemn oath by the One who lives forever, saying, “It will go on for a time, times, and half a time. When the shattering of the holy people has finally come to an end, all these things will have happened.” 8 I heard what he said, but I did not understand what he meant. So I asked, “How will all this finally end, my lord?” 9 But he said, “Go now, Daniel, for what I have said is kept secret and sealed until the time of the end. 10 Many will be purified, cleansed, and refined by these trials. But the wicked will continue in their wickedness, and none of them will understand. Only those who are wise will know what it means. 11 “From the time the daily sacrifice is stopped and the sacrilegious object that causes desecration is set up to be worshiped, there will be 1,290 days. 12 And blessed are those who wait and remain until the end of the 1,335 days! 13 “As for you, go your way until the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days, you will rise again to receive the inheritance set aside for you.”

Almost

Hi Peeps,

Today’s Quote

“When we’re not paying attention, the wrong stuff looks almost like God’s stuff.”

Sin-thetic

Folks move in the world, adopting its godless practices and life carries on. From a distance, secular lives seem to be devoid of any strife, struggle, or need for God. But man, it goes without saying (I’m saying it anyway), the devil is in the details. Let’s look at Eve and the apple. The serpent tells her that surely she will not die from eating the apple. What he was actually saying was that she would not die… yet. That is a major distinction. Friends we are not living for today, contrary to what most marketing tells us. A life without God may seem like the life, but in eternity, a lifetime is merely a second. Don’t let the synthetic desires of the flesh lead you to a sin-thetic life.

Authentic

So, sin is the act of trying to fill a need without the aid of God. I laugh at myself all of the time when I try and navigate this world in my own accord. Long story short, I make a bunch of mistakes and eventually run back to God, asking Him to sort out whatever mess I made. We humans aren’t that bright, despite what we tell ourselves. Even the wisest crumble, repent, do better– rinse, recycle, repeat. The difference is the consistency of grace and mercy that only Christ can give. When you accept the gift of salvation, old foolish acts don’t feel as good. It’s because they’re a cheap knock off of the real thing. Luckily for us, we serve a God of forgiveness and love. Let’s turn from the sin-thetic and get the natural cure that is Christ.

Today’s Question

Are you enjoying the everlasting supply of Christ or are you overdosing on a sin-thetic lifestyle?

Ezekial 2

1 “Stand up, son of man,” said the voice. “I want to speak with you.” 2 The Spirit came into me as he spoke, and he set me on my feet. I listened carefully to his words. 3 “Son of man,” he said, “I am sending you to the nation of Israel, a rebellious nation that has rebelled against me. They and their ancestors have been rebelling against me to this very day. 4 They are a stubborn and hard-hearted people. But I am sending you to say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says!’ 5 And whether they listen or refuse to listen—for remember, they are rebels—at least they will know they have had a prophet among them. 6 “Son of man, do not fear them or their words. Don’t be afraid even though their threats surround you like nettles and briers and stinging scorpions. Do not be dismayed by their dark scowls, even though they are rebels. 7 You must give them my messages whether they listen or not. But they won’t listen, for they are completely rebellious! 8 Son of man, listen to what I say to you. Do not join them in their rebellion. Open your mouth, and eat what I give you.” 9 Then I looked and saw a hand reaching out to me. It held a scroll, 10 which he unrolled. And I saw that both sides were covered with funeral songs, words of sorrow, and pronouncements of doom.
