Gratitude

heart-1318850_1920 (1).jpg

Hi Peeps,

Today’s Quote

“When you dwell on all that God has done for you, staying in a gracious mindset becomes easier.”~TB

In Spite Of

In spite of our flaws, misdeeds, doubt, doublemindedness, and the like, God still loves every single one of us. Think about that for a second. No matter what we do, how good or bad, we will always have a connection to Christ. That type of love is unquantifiable! Friends, be grateful that He is so loving, especially to a population that will never have the greatest track record.

Pass it On

As you know the Truth, live in peace, and practice gratitude amongst one another. Let the offenses pass you by, forgive quickly and freely, and meditate on God’s goodness daily. It is by practicing the grace and mercy of the Lord that changes the hearts and minds of others. There’s no need to be mean or defend yourself. God sees all. So let him see you practice His teachings, sharing the Good News.

Today’s Question

Are you being grateful or are you looking for the next best thing?

Psalm 139

1 O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.
2 You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.
3 You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do.
4 You know what I am going to say even before I say it, LORD .
5 You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand!
7 I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence!
8 If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there.
9 If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans,
10 even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me.
11 I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night—
12 but even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to you.
13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
16You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.
17 How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered!
18 I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!
19 O God, if only you would destroy the wicked! Get out of my life, you murderers!
20 They blaspheme you; your enemies misuse your name.
21 O LORD, shouldn’t I hate those who hate you? Shouldn’t I despise those who oppose you?
22 Yes, I hate them with total hatred, for your enemies are my enemies.
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

Reflect

man-3591573_1920.jpg

Hi Peeps,

Today’s Quote

“Keep tabs on your ego and pride because an overabundance of both can cause you to lose your blessings.”~TB

Pride

When you’ve walked with God long enough to see the many spectacular things He’s done in you and around you, if you’re not careful, you can begin to think too highly of yourself. Pride blinds us from connecting to our brothers and sisters in Christ. An unchecked ego foolishly hones in on the sins of others, without recognizing or dealing with our own. When you’re really out of sorts, you can become your own deity, thinking you know all. Friends, check your pride and make sure you’re not on team arrogance.

Humility

It takes honest humility and repentance to get off or your high horse. Fortunately for us, when we find ourselves on the wrong team, God will gently laugh and will lovingly take us back. In those moments, reflect on His mercy and His immediate acceptance of you. God doesn’t scoff, He doesn’t even say ‘I told you so’. Like a parent missing a child who has been gone for a long time, He welcomes you with open arms. Friends, mirror His ways! Don’t think too highly of yourselves and give your peers the mercy and grace that God gives us each and every day. When you keep your feelings in check and love like God loves us, everyone wins.

Today’s Question

Are you practicing His ways or is your pride driving your behavior?

Psalm 138

1 I give you thanks, O LORD, with all my heart; I will sing your praises before the gods.
2 I bow before your holy Temple as I worship. I praise your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness; for your promises are backed by all the honor of your name.
3 As soon as I pray, you answer me; you encourage me by giving me strength.
4 Every king in all the earth will thank you, LORD, for all of them will hear your words.
5 Yes, they will sing about the LORD ’s ways, for the glory of the LORD is very great.
6Though the LORD is great, he cares for the humble, but he keeps his distance from the proud.
7 Though I am surrounded by troubles, you will protect me from the anger of my enemies. You reach out your hand, and the power of your right hand saves me.
8 The LORD will work out his plans for my life— for your faithful love, O LORD, endures forever. Don’t abandon me, for you made me.

Application

whisper-408482_1280

Hi Peeps,

Today’s Quote

“Understanding God’s Word is fairly simple. Applying it to your life, well, that’s a whole other animal.”~TB

In Theory

In theory, love sacrifice, patience, long-suffering, and perseverance are lovely and beautiful concepts. When you speak them to one another, those words provide a false sense of accomplishment. In today’s society, people sing sweet nothings, as if spraying perfume on a stinky body, in an attempt to hide the foul smell. Words without deeds are empty. Many of you have filled your hearts and minds with empty rhetoric. Friends, listen carefully: as idiot people, we have subjugated those words, turning them into nouns when they really are verbs!

In Practice

Love, sacrifice, patience, long-suffering, and perseverance requires DOING! You can’t just say the words and poof life is wonderful. You have to love when it’s hard. You have to be patient in tough times. You have to be long-suffering when the odds aren’t in your favor. You have to persevere when failure comes your way. Anyone can be an armchair quarterback. It takes humility in understanding that God can only help you with this verbs. You cannot overcome your sinful nature on your own.

Today’s Question

Are you applying the verbs or do you stink under the perfume of fake words?

Psalm 137

1 Beside the rivers of Babylon, we sat and wept as we thought of Jerusalem.
2 We put away our harps, hanging them on the branches of poplar trees.
3 For our captors demanded a song from us. Our tormentors insisted on a joyful hymn: “Sing us one of those songs of Jerusalem!”
4But how can we sing the songs of the LORD while in a pagan land?
5 If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget how to play the harp.
6May my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth if I fail to remember you, if I don’t make Jerusalem my greatest joy.
7 O LORD, remember what the Edomites did on the day the armies of Babylon captured Jerusalem. “Destroy it!” they yelled. “Level it to the ground!”
8 O Babylon, you will be destroyed. Happy is the one who pays you back for what you have done to us.
9 Happy is the one who takes your babies and smashes them against the rocks!

Assist

pro-basketball-team-1594634_1920.jpg

Hi Peeps,

Today’s Quote

“When you’re operating in your Holy position, it’s easier for you to assist a teammate in need.”~TB

One Team

As brothers and sisters in Christ, we are on one team, which means it’s in our best interest to help one another succeed. Operating in this mindset, you’re able to lay down the offenses of your teammates to help with the assist so that they can shoot and score. When they score a point, so do you! So friends, don’t ball hog, just because you may be a better scorer. Instead, look to the Bible to understand the playbook so you can hook your teammates up with a stellar pass. God sees who is helping their teammates. He also sees who are holding each other back. Make sure you’re being a good teammate!

One Goal

Even the best teammates need a break. When a star player is tired and weak, they are more susceptible to injury. If you see a teammate in need, call a timeout, sub in, and make the play on their behalf! Friends, we all grow tired and weary, which is why we need one another to achieve victory. No one Christian is capable of scoring all of the shots, which is why our Coach in Heaven gives drills, practices, and games to all of His players. When you understand that everyone is able to make the winning shot, sharing, caring, and assisting becomes the most important part of the game.

Today’s Question

Are you assisting your teammates or are you ball hogging?

21 God gave the land of these kings as an inheritance— His faithful love endures forever.
22 a special possession to his servant Israel. His faithful love endures forever.
23 He remembered us in our weakness. His faithful love endures forever.
24 He saved us from our enemies. His faithful love endures forever.
25He gives food to every living thing. His faithful love endures forever.
26Give thanks to the God of heaven. His faithful love endures forever.

Grace & Space

sea-2777839_1920.jpg

Hi Peeps,

Today’s Quote

“Give people the space and grace to grow and develop in Christ”~TB

Space

Don’t compare the development of your relationship with Christ to the relationship He has with others. Everyone grows and develops at their own pace. For this reason, you must give yourself and your brothers and sisters in Christ space and time to till their soil. People are not meant to be ingratiated 24/7 as you need quiet to hear what God has to say. If you’re too busy listening and following others, you’re ignoring the voice of your Heavenly Father. Give yourself space to hear, heal, and grow with God.

Grace

Because sin will always be a part of the human experience, grace has to be freely and quickly extended. As we still continually struggle with this concept, believe that God has your back as you walk in that grace by faith. We will undoubtedly cause offense and quarrels amongst one another. It’s ok, we’re human and Rome wasn’t built in a day. This is why walking with God is so important every second of every day. Grace cannot be earned, so forgive as God forgives us.

Today’s Question

Are you using and walking in your space and Grace on a daily basis?

Psalm 135

1 Praise the LORD ! Praise the name of the LORD ! Praise him, you who serve the LORD,
2 you who serve in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God.
3 Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; celebrate his lovely name with music.
4 For the LORD has chosen Jacob for himself, Israel for his own special treasure.
5 I know the greatness of the LORD — that our Lord is greater than any other god.
6 The LORD does whatever pleases him throughout all heaven and earth, and on the seas and in their depths.
7 He causes the clouds to rise over the whole earth. He sends the lightning with the rain and releases the wind from his storehouses.
8 He destroyed the firstborn in each Egyptian home, both people and animals.
9 He performed miraculous signs and wonders in Egypt against Pharaoh and all his people.
10 He struck down great nations and slaughtered mighty kings—
11 Sihon king of the Amorites, Og king of Bashan, and all the kings of Canaan.
12 He gave their land as an inheritance, a special possession to his people Israel.
13 Your name, O LORD, endures forever; your fame, O LORD, is known to every generation.
14 For the LORD will give justice to his people and have compassion on his servants.
15 The idols of the nations are merely things of silver and gold, shaped by human hands.
16 They have mouths but cannot speak, and eyes but cannot see.
17 They have ears but cannot hear, and mouths but cannot breathe.
18 And those who make idols are just like them, as are all who trust in them.
19 O Israel, praise the LORD ! O priests—descendants of Aaron—praise the LORD !
20 O Levites, praise the LORD ! All you who fear the LORD, praise the LORD !
21 The LORD be praised from Zion, for he lives here in Jerusalem. Praise the LORD !

Fixed Mindset

person-984236_1920.jpg

Hi Peeps,

Today’s Quote

“It’s difficult to grow your faith if you have a fixed mindset.”~TB

Stagnate

To the uninformed, once you know the Truth, all learning ceases.  Even though the Truth– salvation is given to us through the sacrifice of Jesus– never changes, the trouble with that mindset is that life’s lessons and challenges still exist. The reason the Bible is called the Living Word is that it applies in your life in all of its stages. Friends, receiving salvation is the easy part. Staying in a learning mindset takes grit and perseverance. Failing to cultivate a lifelong relationship with Christ will cause you to stagnate because you don’t understand the landscape of a fallen world. Without understanding God’s love, it is difficult to practice His teachings. Adopt a continuous learning mindset so that you can grow with God throughout your life.

Next Level

The truth is, there is always another level after the last. God’s ways are so expansive and massive that it takes a lifetime to even catch a glimpse. What a mighty God we serve! For this reason, you must always be willing and able to learn new things with Him. Human love pales in comparison to God’s love, which is why we must connect with Him daily to practice love from a Biblical perspective. Those who are considered wise understand that even in their wisdom, they still depend on God like a nursing baby. Without Him you are nothing. But with Him, nothing is impossible. Pass your tests and get to the next level, so that you may reach the next level after that. Once you understand that this is a lifelong process, you will love attending God’s Holy school.

Today’s Question

Are you one of God’s lifelong students or are you flunking out?

Psalm 133

1 How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony!
2 For harmony is as precious as the anointing oil that was poured over Aaron’s head, that ran down his beard and onto the border of his robe.
3 Harmony is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon that falls on the mountains of Zion. And there the LORD has pronounced his blessing, even life everlasting.

Old Wounds

hospital-834157_1920.jpg

Hi Peeps,

Today’s Quote

“Sometimes God reopens old wounds because they didn’t heal properly.”~TB

Scar Tissue

If past events and hurts still haunt you, it’s a sign that you have not healed properly. Instead of moving forward, you are stuck in neutral, spinning around aimlessly. Like an old wound that has not healed properly, the overgrowth of the scar tissue of your past still plagues your present, causing you pain. When this happens God will make you revisit old tests. It’s not because He’s punishing you, but rather, He’s reopening the wound, removing the excess scar tissue so that you can properly heal. Friends, deal with your tests, temptations, and demons accordingly. Otherwise, you will be stuck having to reopen poorly healed wounds for the rest of your life.

Heal

Traumatic situations aren’t fun and when you endure a painful season, it’s human nature to want to numb the pain and avoid it. Problem is when that avoidance blocks your growth in Christ, those old wounds become a hotbed for disaster. Only true repentance and forgiveness heals these afflictions. Reflect on the Word and study the Truth. Once those old wounds resurface, use the Holy lens of Christ to see things clearly. Every obstacle and tribulation is packed with valuable lessons. Learn from them. Allow these moments to refine your character and your walk with God. When you begin to understand that your pain is subjective and you can control your reaction as you cast your burdens down, then you can live freely in Christ. Let God help you remove the scar tissue of your old wounds so that you may live in peace.

Today’s Question

Are old wounds hurting your present and future?

Psalm 132

1 LORD, remember David and all that he suffered.
2 He made a solemn promise to the LORD . He vowed to the Mighty One of Israel,
3 “I will not go home; I will not let myself rest.
4 I will not let my eyes sleep nor close my eyelids in slumber
5 until I find a place to build a house for the LORD, a sanctuary for the Mighty One of Israel.”
6 We heard that the Ark was in Ephrathah; then we found it in the distant countryside of Jaar.
7 Let us go to the sanctuary of the LORD ; let us worship at the footstool of his throne.
8 Arise, O LORD, and enter your resting place, along with the Ark, the symbol of your power.
9 May your priests be clothed in godliness; may your loyal servants sing for joy.
10 For the sake of your servant David, do not reject the king you have anointed.
11 The LORD swore an oath to David with a promise he will never take back: “I will place one of your descendants on your throne.
12 If your descendants obey the terms of my covenant and the laws that I teach them, then your royal line will continue forever and ever.”
13 For the LORD has chosen Jerusalem ; he has desired it for his home.
14 “This is my resting place forever,” he said. “I will live here, for this is the home I desired.
15 I will bless this city and make it prosperous; I will satisfy its poor with food.
16 I will clothe its priests with godliness; its faithful servants will sing for joy.
17 Here I will increase the power of David; my anointed one will be a light for my people.
18 I will clothe his enemies with shame, but he will be a glorious king.”
